Chiropractic Treatment
Welcome to the world's largest healing art! Over 45 million people benefit from chiropractic health care every year. Twenty percent of all people in the United States are chronically ill, and many of them are discovering chiropractic to be the best source of relief from pain and promotion of long-term health.
Dr. Noll utilizes his expertise in diagnosis to determine if your condition will be successfully treated with chiropractic. If he believes another doctor may treat that condition better, he will refer you to that specialist.
Relief Without Medication
The chiropractic health profession is concerned with diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the nervous system, as well as general health. Typically we use manual methods (hands) for spinal and extremity manipulation. Our goal is to use manipulation to correct musculoskeletal disorders without using prescription medications. Many of the prescription medications prescribed for spinal and extremity pain can cause devastating side effects and even death.
How Does Chiropractic Treatment Work?
Nerve irritation in your spine can cause problems throughout your body. The spine itself surrounds and protects most of the nervous system, which controls all other systems in your body. It is therefore important to remove nerve irritation in the spine through gentle and specific spinal adjustments. It is equally important to strengthen and stabilize the spine so that problems will not return. This is the primary use of spinal therapy.
The latest spinal therapy equipment is available at Noll Chiropractic, including intersegmental traction, high voltage galvanic current, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, diathermy, and interferential current (see Glossary of Treatment). The need for these therapies is assessed based on your condition.
How Long Will Treatment Last?
The progress examination gives both you and your doctor objective information on your body's response to the treatment process and is used to determine if any additional care is required. This examination will be given on approximately your tenth day of treatment.
Vertigo Treatment
Vertigo is Treatable! 75% of patients with vertigo are helped by just one treatment!
Dr. Noll is one of the few doctors that treats Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) with conservative management. Using the Epley maneuver, he has helped hundreds of patients with this debilitating condition.
What is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)?
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo is a condition of the inner ear that causes brief, but severe, room-spinning dizzy episodes. The terms Benign, Paroxysmal, Positional and Vertigo best explain this distressing and incapacitating condition.
Benign: A not-progressive condition
Paroxysmal: Sudden and unpredictable in onset
Positional: Episodes are caused by a change in the head position
Vertigo: A sense of dizziness or spinning
What can cause BPPV?
This inner ear condition often begins after a person has suffered a head trauma, a severe cold or simply as a part of the aging process. The inner ear contains fluid which allows the brain to sense movement and maintain balance. The cause of BPPV is a dislodgement of small calcium carbonate crystals, known as octonia, that float in the inner ear fluid. These crystals strike against the sensitive nerve endings and cause the symptoms of BPPV.
What are the symptoms of BPPV?
- Severe but brief episodes of dizziness, without hearing loss or ringing in the ears
- Sudden onset, often first noticed when waking from sleep
- Triggered by changes in the position of the head
- Nausea and vomiting
Will BBPV go away on its own?
If left untreated the condition usually clears within several weeks to several months.
How does Noll Chiropractic treat BPPV?
A simple test can be performed in our office to confirm the diagnosis. Once a diagnosis of BPPV has been confirmed, Dr. Noll can treat the condition using the Epley Maneuver technique. The condition can usually be corrected in one to two treatments.
What is the Epley Maneuver?
The Otolith Repositioning Procedure of Semont and Epley is a simple and well-tolerated technique that will cure BPPV in the majority of patients. This well accepted technique moves the patient into various positions, using gravity to move the calcium carbonate crystals away from the nerve endings and into an area of the inner ear where they will do no further harm.
