Q. What is chiropractic?

A. Chiropractic is the art and science of adjusting the spine and supporting joints.  At Noll Chiropractic we combine physiotherapy with the hands-on adjustments of the spine and extremities.  The purpose of the adjustment is to provide motion to the particular joint in order to return normal motion.  Dysfunction of the spine and musculoskeletal system can result in irritation of the nervous system, thus sending your brain messages of pain.  Research shows that motion in a joint will relieve pain, restore normal mobility and help prevent aberrant motion which can cause cartilage disease.

Q. Is chiropractic care safe?

A. Chiropractic is one of the safest treatments you can receive.  Chiropractors have the lowest malpractice insurance rates of any doctor because injuries are rare.  Compared to the dangers of taking medication and the complications of surgery, risks associated with chiropractic care are minimal.  At Noll Chiropractic we know the exact contraindications for each therapy on certain conditions.  This knowledge allows us to provide you with safe, gentle and effective care.

Q. Will chiropractic care hurt?

A.The adjustment itself is not painful.  When you turn your low back and neck and hear that “click” or “pop”, that is an adjustment.  Chiropractors just use more specific adjustments.  A well-placed adjustment loosens stiff, painful joints, thus blocking the pain signal to your brain.  On older patients with osteoporosis we may use a less forceful technique.
